Happy Birthday, Danny Krivit

Happy Birthday, Danny Krivit

Danny Krivit was literally born to do it. The New York house music heavyweight is the son of a jazz singer mother and father who managed the great jazz trumpeter Chet Baker. He brushed shoulders with iconic musicians including Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, and John Lennon from an early age and grew up to become a seminal DJ in NYC’s house music heyday, playing everywhere from Danceteria to the Limelight to Paradise Garage. Also a wiz in the studio, Krivit has produced, edited or mixed well over a thousand tracks and was dubbed “King of the Re-Edit” for his steady stream of disco delights. Krivit formed the beloved Body & Soul team in 1996 with Francois K and Joe Clausell, then branched out to start his own 718 sessions parties in 2002. The parties have been a constant source of joyous, life-affirming house music, drawing proper dancers from across the decades to get down like nowhere else. Get over to Good Room to wish this man a wonderful day of birth!

4.4.24 Dripping at Nowadays

Hieroglyphic Being is one of the most creative producers on the planet, an avant-garde Afrofuturist and disciple of fellow Chicagoan and house music pioneer Ron Hardy. He graces the Dripping party on Thursday night alongside a bevy of other mind-bending artists including Poncili Creacion, the surreal puppeteering creation of identical twin brothers Efrain and Pablo Del Hierro, and Elori Saxl, a filmmaker and composer whose meditative arrangements leave audiences spellbound. There’s no better cerebral club offering in New York than Dripping.

4.5.24 MERGE, venue TBA, Brooklyn

Merge is Brooklyn’s hottest queer techno party, and part of the fun is that the venue is not revealed to ticket-holders until 9pm on the night of the event. This ten-hour, two-room edition is a little bittersweet — Berghain resident and headliner Phase Fatale was supposed to be playing B2B with the recently departed Silent Servant. But you can expect an emphatic tribute to the late techno maestro, and support from luminaries including Clarisa Kimskii and Kiernan Laveaux B2B ADAB.

4.6.24 718 Sessions celebrates Danny Krivit’s birthday at Good Room
